Mindfulness - the Art of Conscious Living

Embrace the peace and ease of life by immersing your body and soul into an effective stress-reducing resource, increase self-awareness, enhance emotional intelligence,

and effectively handle painful thoughts and feelings.

Mindfulness is the latest ‘buzz’ word, but essentially covers the basis of all therapies here at Phoenix.  It is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

It is the process of being able to focus on what you choose to focus on, or focus on quieting the mind like meditation. The difference between Mindfulness and Meditation is that in Mindfulness, we are focusing on the present, the real feeling of the NOW, and enjoying just being in that moment, even with our eyes open and in conscious state.

As you learn to let go of invading thoughts without judgement, you are then able to train the mind to focus on what you desire.

Meditation is the balance of mindfulness and relaxation. A simple, yet highly effective technique that is taught can begin with a daily practice of 10 minutes each day and then increased as required.

Although Mindfulness and Meditation has only recently been embraced by Western psychology, it is an ancient practice found in a wide range of Eastern philosophies, including Buddhism, Taoism and Yoga. Mindfulness is about waking up, connecting with ourselves, and appreciating the fullness of each moment of life.

Mindfulness and Meditation is now a powerful tool for enhancing psychological health. There is now much mainstream evidence to show that Mindfulness is very effective. It is now clinically proven in a wide range of clinical disorders including Depression, Chronic Pain, P.T.S.D, Anxiety Disorders, Pregnancy and Childbirth support, Learning and Study and so much more.

Just Breathe

There are a number of ways to meditate. You use your own way or you can adopt an eastern style (Buddhist) or many other styles.

So many have become to understand mediation as a guided activity that they require another to talk them through. This perplexes me, as the very essence of meditation is to become highly aware internally, and so to focus on internal sensations through the study of breath, can be liberating in its dependency on self.

At Pheonix, you will learn how to firstly use mindfulness as a way to focus more in the present now. Allowing unwanted and limiting thoughts pass by, just by observing them rather than let them take hold. You can find great joy in being in the present, as you observe feelings and thoughts that move through your awareness.
